Dark monsoon clouds loom over a rain-soaked road in Bihar as the advancing monsoon brings thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and changing weather conditions across the state.

The southwest monsoon is slowly nearing Bihar, accompanied by pleasant showers and, simultaneously, forewarning of bad weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for 13 districts of the state, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rain in the coming few days. As per the weatherman, there are all chances that the weather situation would be favourable for further advance of monsoon in Bihar. Due to the movement of moist air across this region, the 13 districts are likely to receive a sharp shower and stormy conditions. These 13 districts of the state are likely to experience strong winds accompanied by widespread rains and lightning strikes in the coming few days.

The orange alert signifies potentially hazardous weather, and advisories ask people to stay updated and take caution against any untoward weather incident, especially during thunderstorms. Farmers, travelers, outdoor activities professional are specifically cautioned to be cautious. Lightning is one of the deadliest aspects of the Bihar monsoon; almost every year, many people get electrocuted in lightning incidents in the state. People have been warned by the disaster management agency against going to open spaces, rivers, ponds and under trees. They should not stand in fields. Also, they should immediately remain inside their homes after the warning of any lightning strike is issued. However, this monsoon has also brought hope of immense relief from the scorching summer temperatures that have plagued many parts of Bihar lately. Water resources could also be replenished and be favourable for agricultural activities.

For farmers, the timely arrival of the monsoon signifies a chance to begin the Kharif sowing season. Paddies, maize, and pulses are expected to get a good season if this trend of rains prevails for the next few days. Disaster management agencies are keeping a watch for localized flooding/water logging and disruptions in transportation services due to heavy rain. Emergency response teams have been alerted, and officials of the district administration have been instructed to keep vigilance for any untoward weather event. As the monsoon makes its entry deeper into East India, heavy rains could soon hit across Bihar, according to weathermen. People from said districts have been asked to remain alert and heed all instructions.
