The Uttarakhand government has stepped up the surveillance of the hospitals registered under Ayushman Yojana and has asked the hospitals to make the necessary arrangements by August 31. The step will benefit the quality of treatment, transparency in claims settlement, and the better operation of the cashless healthcare scheme in the state.
According to the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the beneficiaries are entitled to avail free treatment facilities from the government as well as the registered government and private hospitals. The Uttarakhand government has now put a greater focus on these hospitals to ensure that they provide the patients with the right services as per guidelines.
Authorities have ordered hospitals involved in the scheme to keep all the required facilities, records updated, treat patients as per the treatments and process claims smoothly. Further, hospitals will have to make improvements in their documentation and transparency in patient admission and medical procedures.
The government’s decision comes amid increasing focus on preventing irregularities in healthcare schemes. Complaints about billing problems, unnecessary procedures, and errors in the claims submitted by certain hospitals have been under investigation. The hardline would help to make sure that only treatments that are eligible for use are approved and that beneficiaries wouldn’t have problems when they avail healthcare services.
Those hospitals that do not comply with the standards within the prescribed timelines will be subject to an inspection and further action. This may range from warnings to suspension of services within the scheme or removal from the list of empanelled hospitals, depending on the level of seriousness of their violations.
Ayushman Yojana has been a significant initiative in ensuring accessible healthcare for thousands of families in Uttarakhand, who can otherwise not afford it. The scheme provides access to treatment for a range of serious conditions without having to pay high hospital costs. It is hoped that strengthening monitoring systems would help to build trust between patients and government health care funds and to make better use of government health care funds.
Hospital staff members have pointed out that patient care should be the hospital’s priority and that they must adhere to the rules established under the scheme. Regular checks and compliance reviews will be continued to ensure empanelled hospitals continue to meet the required standards.
As the deadline for August 31 looms, hospitals are expected to make the necessary changes and meet the new standards in Uttarakhand. The move by the government is to improve the transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Ayushman Yojana in the state.
