Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during his Almora visit as officials prepare for a public event.

All activities are underway in Almora for the visit of the Chief Minister of the state party, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, who is set to attend an award function for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the district. The local government has bolstered security measures and logistics to ensure that the function goes off without a hitch.

There is a need to consider doing all preparations by the officials of various departments as a priority. The District administration, police officers and Municipal officials are carefully watching over the security and traffic control arrangements and venue management, to say nothing of the provision of public amenities ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival.

The SDG award ceremony will honour departments, institutions or local bodies that have done outstanding work to meet the SDG targets related to development. These goals correspond to the goals promoted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals framework, including education, healthcare, sanitation, environmental protection, women’s empowerment and rural development.

Senior officials at the event conducted checks on the hall where the event was being held, and on security arrangements within the city as part of preparations that were undertaken. Police staff have been assigned to key areas, and traffic rerouting is also being planned in advance to circumvent traffic during the program. The police will also guarantee proper sanitation measures and proper infrastructure at the venue.

It is expected that the Chief Minister will talk with officials, public representatives and the citizens during the event. Discussions around development projects that are ongoing and welfare measures in the Kumaon region might also happen during the visit, sources said.

The administration has been on its toes because of its importance and the visit of senior government officials. Security measures also include the deployment of emergency response teams and medical services that will stand ready.

Almora is known for its historical significance and charm and has been the venue for several significant government initiatives and public events. Planning of the SDG award function being held in the hill district is considered to be a move to sensitize the public about the programmes for sustainable development in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand.

In the past few years, the Uttarakhand government has been working on a number of development plans related to tourism, rural development, digital governance, water management, and health care. Events associated with SDG achievement focus on inspiring districts and cities to strive for better performance and to foster inclusive development.

The residents and the local leaders are also awaiting the Chief Minister to visit the region and announce anything concerning the development of the region, as well as public welfare schemes. Meanwhile, officials have been working overtime to make all arrangements and ensure that the planned program is a reality.
