The Jharkhand government has recently declared a new program to promote research, start-ups, and scientific awareness in the state in a big move towards enhancing science education and innovation. The Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed authorities to operationalize mobile science exhibition buses, which will be used to move around the districts, particularly to rural and remote areas.
The project belongs to the wider perspective of developing a more powerful innovation ecosystem in Jharkhand, where students and young entrepreneurs will work on science and technology and on the possibilities of startups. The government will close the education divide between rural and urban education by popularizing and making scientific education more interactive.
The officials say that the mobile science exhibition buses will serve as mobile science laboratories. These buses will have interactive models, demonstrations, and educational exhibits that will be used to discuss scientific concepts in an interactive way. They will address schools, villages and learning institutions, providing students with practical experience of experiments that are not usually accessible in low-resource regions.
The Chief Minister has pointed out that it is not only the education in schools that should be enhanced, but also the establishment of a good base to innovate and become an entrepreneur. He has directed departments to work out a comprehensive road map on how to promote startups in the state, with particular focus on youth involvement and development based on research.
The state education and science officials will be expected to cooperate in the implementation of the project. The program is also bound to engage schools, science clubs and innovation centres to deliver good content and proper outreach.
Experts are optimistic that such programs may make a major impact in fostering scientific thought among learners and in motivating them to work in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas. The government believes that, through directing science to communities, young learners will develop curiosity and creativity.
Also, the startup promotion plan will be able to offer mentorship, incubation, and funding to young entrepreneurs in Jharkhand. The vision of the state is to become a new centre of innovation and technological development in the long term.
By combining these two strategies of mobile science education and startup promotion, Jharkhand is looking to build a knowledge-based ecosystem that can empower its young population and enhance its economic future. Mobile science exhibition buses are likely to be implemented in the near future in a few selected districts and then statewide.
