Live Tauktae Cyclone weather updates:
- In Maharashtra, 6 people have been killed and 9 injured due to Cyclone Tauktae. 4 animals have also died. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray assessed the damage and directed to expedite relief operations.
- Alert has been issued in 14 districts of Gujarat in view of the storm. Gujarat government has moved 1.5 lakh people within a 10 km radius of the danger zone to safe places in various districts. A total of 44 teams of the National Disaster Response Force have been deployed in coastal areas along with police and local officials in various districts.
- Cyclone Tauktae will make landfall tonight in Gujarat.
- 121 villages affected by Cyclone Tauktae in Karnataka, eight people have died in the affected areas.
There is a danger of cyclonic storm Tauktae in the southwestern states of the country. Now, this storm is moving towards Gujarat. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Gujarat on 17 and 18 May. So far, eight people have died in the affected areas due to this storm, while hundreds of trees have fallen and many villages have been affected. According to the IMD, till today evening, Tauktae will hit the coast of Gujarat and meanwhile, it has been decided to close the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held discussions with the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa due to the cyclone and inquired about the latest situation.
