The government is planning to increase the number of air routes in the region under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which will bring a significant improvement in the connectivity of Jharkhand. The project is to introduce smaller cities of the state to the aviation sector of India and make air travel more approachable and affordable to the citizens.
As the officials say, the underserved and remote towns in Jharkhand will soon be linked to major cities by new flight services, including Ranchi, Delhi, and Kolkata. The relocation is under the wider scope of the government to enhance the infrastructure in the region and make sure that even the Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities will enjoy the benefit of high-speed transportation systems.
UDAN scheme, introduced by the Government of India, is aimed at improving air connectivity by redeveloping underutilized airstrips and airports. The airlines that operate on the scheme are offered financial incentives, and the prices of the tickets are also limited to make them affordable to ordinary citizens. This has already revolutionized the connectivity in some sections of the country, and Jharkhand is now set to benefit a lot from its growth.
The need to have better air connectivity will also see the travel time of passengers who are used to spending a lot of time on the road or rail transportation decrease drastically. It is now possible to cover a couple of hours by air, which used to be a matter of several hours or a full day. This convenience will probably prompt more individuals to choose to use air travel, particularly in business and emergency situations.
It is also expected that the development will give a high impetus to the economy of Jharkhand. Improved connectivity usually results in more tourism, easier business activities, and an increase in investment flows. Faster logistics and access to national markets are likely to be enjoyed by local industries, especially mining, agriculture, and small-scale businesses.
Besides this, the development will also result in the creation of jobs in the aviation, hospitality, and related industries. The ripple effect of improved connectivity may be used in airport operations, as well as in local transport services, which may lead to total growth in the region.
The officers are of the opinion that the inclusion of smaller cities in the national air network will assist in closing the divide between urban and rural areas. With the UDAN scheme still growing, the smaller towns in Jharkhand will be brought nearer to the mainstream economic and social development, which will be a major advance in the infrastructure and connectivity environment in the state.
