Stormy landscape with lightning over the hills of Uttarakhand and a rural road scene, highlighting a yellow weather alert for storms.

Uttarakhand is facing unstable weather conditions, mostly in the hilly regions. As a result, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and strong winds. The advisory has asked the public to remain cautious since unstable weather changes are expected to take place in the state throughout the day.

According to the latest weather forecast, several hilly districts of Uttarakhand, such as Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning. At high altitudes, there is also a possibility of fresh snowfall.

The yellow alert has indicated that there is a need for increased awareness. The authorities have asked the public to avoid going to vulnerable areas such as landslide-prone areas, river banks, and high-altitude trekking routes during intense weather activities. The tourists who visit the hill stations have also been asked to check the weather forecast before going on a trip.

According to meteorologists, the unstable weather is due to the active western disturbance in the Himalayan region. The weather disturbance has caused moisture-laden winds, resulting in the formation of clouds. Therefore, there have been sudden spells of rain and storms. During thunderstorms, the winds can reach up to 40-50 km/h.

On the other hand, in the plains like Dehradun, it is forecast to remain partly cloudy with light rain. Although the intensity of weather changes in these areas is less compared to the Himalayas, there will be changes in temperature and humidity levels.

The state administration is keeping a close eye on the weather. They have directed the local administration to remain on high alert. Emergency services have been kept on stand-by in case of any untoward incidents due to adverse weather conditions.

The tourist season has started to pick up in the Himalayas. The unstable weather is a reminder of the volatile weather in the Himalayas. Residents and tourists need to remain updated on weather forecasts and take the required precautions to remain safe.
