Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed the administration to deal with anyone who tries to destroy peace in the forthcoming festivals of Ram Navami and Sarhul in an immediate and strict manner. The orders were issued at a high-level review meeting that had been convened to review law-and-order preparedness within the state in the run-up to the celebrations. The Chief Minister pointed out that communal harmony and ensuring that society is safe should be the major focus of the administration. He advised the district officials, the police officers and other concerned departments to remain on their guard and that no anti-social element is given the chance to develop the tension in any of the regions of Jharkhand. The state government is not taking the issue lightly, given that huge crowds, religious parades, and celebrations will take place in various districts. Soren made four key directions according to the officials at the meeting. First, he had given orders to execute all people who were caught attempting to disrupt peace or cause unrest. Second, he requested the administration to ensure a high presence of the police in sensitive locations and be on alert around the clock until the festive season is over. Third, he instructed the authorities to locate vulnerable areas and closely monitor them in order to avoid any suspicious events. Fourth, he emphasized the tough control over social media and mass demonstrations so that the rumours, provocative messages, and incendiary materials could not cause tension on the ground. It was also the request of the Chief Minister that officials should have a close contact with local communities, organizers, and district administrations to be able to conduct all religious and cultural events smoothly. He ensured that he did not tolerate any carelessness in keeping the law and order. It has also been informed that the administration should ensure that they have made proper arrangements for crowd control, traffic control, emergency response, and the safety of women, children, and senior citizens during the celebrations. Both Ram Navami and Sarhul are important events in Jharkhand, and they are celebrated with much passion. Although Ram Navami celebrates great religious processions in several towns, Sarhul is a significant occurrence, particularly with tribal communities. Due to the size of such celebrations, the government is eager to avoid any such event that will impact peace and community harmony. The message conveyed by the Chief Minister is an indication of a no-tolerance policy toward troublemakers and an attempt by the government to ensure that the people in the entire state of Jharkhand are able to enjoy their festivals in a secure and peaceful atmosphere. The state government enjoys a peaceful festive season without any breach of law and order, as the administrative vigilance has improved now.
