Preparations are at a fever pitch in Dehradun as the state gets ready for the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit Uttarakhand on November 9 to attend the silver jubilee celebration marking 25 years of the formation of the state. The grand event will be held at the FRI campus, among the most iconic landmarks of the state capital of Dehradun.
Daily reviews by officials from the state administration, including senior officers from the Chief Minister’s office, are being conducted. Top officials include the Garhwal Commissioner, Dehradun District Magistrate, and Police officials who have surveyed the FRI venue for security measures, seating arrangements, traffic management, and media facilities. The whole campus is being decorated with lights, banners, and cultural exhibits showcasing Uttarakhand’s 25-year journey.
This trip is of great significance to the people of Uttarakhand. This year marked a milestone in the history of the state that was formed on November 9, 2000, after being carved out of Uttar Pradesh. In the past two-and-a-half decades, Uttarakhand has taken giant strides in tourism, infrastructure, education, and protection of the environment. A visit by the Prime Minister at this particular juncture is being interpreted as an acknowledgement of the growth of the state and its contribution towards the development of the country.
The PM is likely to address the gathering and reflect the commitment of the Central government towards ensuring the fast-track development of Uttarakhand. Sources indicate that the Prime Minister might also announce some new developmental projects pertaining to connectivity, sustainable tourism, and youth employment. Cultural performances by artists of the region, displays of traditional crafts, and thematic displays on the achievements of the state since its formation will also form part of the celebrations.
Security has been tightened across Dehradun in the run-up to the visit. The State Police, along with the SPG, have taken over the arrangements, and detailed traffic advisories will be issued for residents. FRI and the surrounding areas will be placed under high security during the event.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked the Prime Minister for attending the state’s 25th Foundation Day and termed it a “proud and historic moment for every citizen of Uttarakhand.”
With Dehradun all geared up to welcome the Prime Minister, the entire atmosphere in the hill state is filled with pride and anticipation. The visit is expected to mark not just the glorious past of the state but also set the pace for a more active and prosperous Uttarakhand in the times to come.
