Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be on a day-long visit to Muzaffarpur today, and he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various development projects to enhance the infrastructure and other facilities provided in the city. Efforts have been made before his arrival, with the district authorities doing a lot, including the amendment of the traffic management system within the city, so that there would be a smooth flow during the visit.
It is reported that the Chief Minister will open up completed works and lay the foundation stones of new schemes that will include road construction, urban beautification, water supply and drains. Some of these initiatives are meant to overcome the long-held civic and traffic problems in Muzaffarpur. The Madhoul Rohua road project has been recently sanctioned by the government and is expected to alleviate the traffic congestion between the city centre and Ramdayalu, and other areas.
District officials have liaised with police and transport departments to control traffic during the visit of the CM. Certain roadways have been diverted, and no entry areas have been created to avoid congestion around the program venues. People who are going to work by train are advised to schedule their travels and travel time as the major parts of the city, such as the Collectorate Road, Ramdayalu Chowk, and Motijheel, will experience limited movement during the period of several hours.
In his visit, Nitish Kumar will be required to speak to a large audience, where he will focus on the intentions of his government to promote balanced development of the regions and sustainable urban development. He will also tend to check on the development of the ongoing projects which were announced earlier, such as the construction of new bridges, bypass roads and the development of better drainage networks in the Urban Infrastructure Development Mission.
Muzaffarpur, a large commercial and cultural centre in Bihar, has experienced a gradual growth in vehicle traffic in recent years. The government intends to address the problem by creating a new ring road and several overbridges, which will reduce traffic congestion in the city and improve access to the city and other districts.
The visit of the Chief Minister by the local inhabitants and the civic groups has been well received with optimism that the projects will be seen to make a tangible difference in the proper conditions of roads, traffic and basic facilities.
This visit restates the emphasis on infrastructure-led growth that the Nitish Kumar administration has so far placed, especially in North Bihar. The goal of the state government is to speed up the current activities and make sure that the new schemes announced are realized within definite deadlines, contributing to the growth of the urban traffic and development of the city in general.
