Devotees gather as the world’s largest Shivalinga is showcased ahead of its installation in Bihar, with a grand temple complex visible in the background.

The state of Bihar is poised to experience a historical and religious occasion when the largest Shivalinga in the world will be installed in the Virat Ramayana Temple that is still under construction in the East Champaran district. The massive Shivalinga has already covered a distance of 1,635 kilometres between Madhya Pradesh and is likely to reach the temple premises by January 4. The grand installation ceremony will take place in February, according to the officials who are related to the project.

Shivalinga is a unique piece of art because it is made out of one giant stone, since it is very huge and highly crafted. Moving such a gigantic building took several months of preparation, special vehicles, and liaising with the government in more than one state. In its route, the Shivalinga made stops at a number of towns and cities where numerous people came to pay their prayers and receive it with the help of flowers and devotional songs.

It is even the organizers who claimed that the pilgrimage itself became a religious procession due to the strong faith and zeal of the people. Traffic and security preparations were well done along the pathway to allow the mobility of Shivalinga safely.

The Virat Ramayana Temple is one of the largest temple complexes in the world, envisioned to be constructed in the village of East Champaran, Kaithwaria. When it is finished, it is projected to be a great pilgrimage and religious tourism destination. It is being claimed that the introduction of the Shivalinga in the world as the biggest one is a milestone in the construction of the temple and its spiritual importance.

According to the religious leaders connected to the project, the ceremony of pran pratishtha that will be organized in February will be performed with full Vedic rituals. The event is anticipated to attract saints, spiritual leaders, and thousands of devotees who have come to see it all over the country. Plans are already in progress to deal with the crowd expected as well as to make sure to make smooth arrangements in the ceremony.

The project will also have wider beneficiaries in the area. Local residents and the government think that the temple will increase religious tourism, employment opportunities, and the infrastructure development of East Champaran and other adjacent regions.

State administration representatives observe the preparations closely, in particular, in terms of crowd control, traffic and safety issues. The provision of temporary facilities and collaboration with local authorities will be enhanced towards the day when the installation is to take place.

As the Shivalinga nears arrival and the February installation is scheduled, Bihar is gearing up to host a historic religious event, which is likely to make the state a centre of focus with national and international presence, and this would put the state on the global spiritual map.
