Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made an important announcement in a bid to improve the education infrastructure in Uttarakhand by declaring the start of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya at Madan Negi in the Tehri district. The relocation will offer quality and affordable education to children within the region, especially those residing in remote and hilly regions.
Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) are schools run by the central government, and they are believed to be of high standard with a standard curriculum under the CBSE board. Such schools have been considered as a good alternative source of quality education, particularly to families in need of good foundational education at a reasonable price.
The new school in Madan Negi is expected to commence in the 2026 27 academic year, according to the officials. First, classes shall be introduced between Class 1 and Class 5 with 1 section each, and there will be plans to increase the class size in the later years to a higher level. This incremental strategy will enable the institution to develop its infrastructure and workforce as time goes by.
The announcement can be of great importance to the Tehri region, where entry to good educational institutions has been a major issue in the past. To get to the schools that are well-equipped, students have to travel long distances, which could be time-consuming and costly to the family. The introduction of Kendriya Vidyalaya in the locality is likely to close this gap and bring the learning opportunities nearer to the homes.
Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the fact that the initiative is part of the larger vision of the government towards inclusive development and access to education without discrimination. According to him, it is very important to strengthen the educational facilities in rural and remote areas to empower the youth and prepare them to get a chance in the future.
In addition to academics, it is also anticipated that the new Kendriya Vidyalaya will lead to the overall growth of the region. With a central school in place, there is usually an enhanced infrastructure, more jobs for teaching and non-teaching personnel, and the community is more engaged.
The project is a smaller project that is a part of a larger national initiative to increase the number of Kendriya Vidyalayas across the nation. The government is keen on ensuring that quality education is not just in the urban centres, but also ensuring that all people can access it by extending such institutions to the underserved areas.
As preparations are being made, the new school in Madan Negi will be a significant step towards improving access to education and securing a brighter future for students in Tehri.
