Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Ahmedabad today on a two-day official visit to Gujarat, during which he is scheduled to inaugurate the highly awaited Samrat Samprati Museum in Gandhinagar. The Prime Minister was given a warm welcome at the airport by Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Acharya Devvrat.
No sooner had he landed in Gujarat than Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Koba in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district, which is near the city and is home to the highly awaited Samrat Samprati Museum. The museum is dedicated to the rich heritage, philosophy, and contributions of Jainism as a religion and is named after a historical personality known as Samrat Samprati, a great patron of Jainism.
The newly constructed museum is expected to become a major cultural and spiritual hub in the state. It has several galleries filled with ancient artefacts, manuscripts, sculptures, etc., which highlight the emergence and philosophy of Jainism as a religion in India. It is one of the oldest religions in India and has a huge following in Gujarat.
The inauguration assumes particular significance as it coincides with the celebrations of Mahavir Jayanti, which marks the birthday of Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of the Jain religion. It is believed to be a tribute to the ideals of non-violence, peace, and spiritual discipline propagated by the religion.
In addition to the inauguration of the museum, the visit of the Prime Minister is part of the larger agenda to promote the development and investment scenario in the state. It is likely to add to the importance of the state as a hub for infrastructure and innovation.
Security arrangements have been strengthened in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in view of the high-profile visit. Authorities in the region have ensured smooth movement and safety. Arrangements have also been put in place to deal with the visitors and dignitaries attending the inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration of the Samrat Samprati Museum is likely to add to the tourism scenario in the region. It is yet another example of the government’s efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the nation and promote it on the global platform.
In the wake of this visit, PM Modi once again highlights the importance of the development of culture, apart from the economic scenario.
