New Greenfield Expressway: Delhi to Dehradun in 2.5 Hrs

A wide multi-lane greenfield expressway with light traffic, lush greenery on both sides, and an overbridge in the distance, highlighting a new route reducing travel time from Delhi to Dehradun to 2.5 hours, branded by MapsofIndia.com.

The Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway is an upcoming 210-kilometre highway, which is a modern road, and is just about to transform travel between the capital of the country and the capital of Uttarakhand. By the time the expressway is operational, the commute that used to take six to seven hours will now take two and a half hours, making travelling on the expressway a fast and more comfortable experience for commuters, tourists, and freight.

The expressway starts at Akshardham, in the state of Delhi, and traverses Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur, then enters Uttarakhand at Dehradun. Built as a controlled-access, high-speed road, it has raised lanes, tunnels and interchanges that allow free traffic flow and lessen congestion compared to the older roads.

One of the best things about the project is that it is eco-sensitive. Parts of the expressway are in the forests and wildlife habitats, such as those towards the Shivalik foothills and the Rajaji National Park. The highway also has wildlife corridors, underpasses, and elevated roadways to ensure that animals like deer and elephants move freely in the landscape to reduce the impact on the environment. This qualifies the corridor as one of the first in northern India to combine modern infrastructure with environmental conservation.

The expressway is also friendly to commuters and safe. It contains toll plazas, emergency services, resting spots, and electric car charging stations, which make the travelling experience of a personal and business car a smooth path. Hilly terrain is beaten with high areas and tunnels that provide the same speeds and reduce the threats of travelling.

As soon as the expressway opens, it will enhance tourism in Uttarakhand, and other places like Mussoorie, Haridwar, and Rishikesh will be accessible. It will as well improve trade and logistics, which will offer quicker routes of transporting goods between Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The officials have ensured that the finishing touches, such as signage, safety barriers and landscaping, are being done. The highway will become accessible to the population in the near future, becoming a symbolic infrastructure project that integrates speed, safety and sustainability and changing the way people travel between the plains and the Himalayan foothills.
