On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu came to Jamshedpur to lay the foundation of two big projects, the Shri Jagannath Spiritual Centre and a new plant associated with the Manipal-Tata Medical College, which was a significant day in the cultural and healthcare history of the steel city.

The President started her visit with a ceremonial Bhoomi Pujan of the proposed Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Centre in the Kadma area. The centre will be a massive spiritual and community centre, which will be based on the famous Jagannath Temple. The project is spread over a number of acres and is intended to be not only a place where worship is done, but also a centre of cultural, ethical, and value-based learning activities.

According to organizers, the centre will be used to conduct spiritual talks, youth development programmes and cultural activities with the aim of promoting Indian culture and moral education. In the afternoons, President Murmu was present at a programme in the Manipal Tata Medical College campus, Baridih. She has set the cornerstone for a new construction to enhance medical education and medical services in the area. The growth will lead to the development of infrastructure, better training of students and also lead to improved medical services to the locals.

In his speech at the meeting, the President emphasized on the role of accessible healthcare and value education in building the nation. She stressed that cultural awareness in institutions with modern education is critical in producing responsible citizens.
