Gujarat is under the grip of an unfolding health problem since startling numbers indicate that over ten individuals, on average, encounter cardiac disturbance each hour in the state. The data provided by the state emergency medical response services show that heart-related emergencies increased over the first half of 2025, which poses a warning to the people regarding the healthcare system.

In a report for June 2025, it was reported that the 108 Emergency Medical Services handled 29,417 calls in cases of cardiac emergencies. This translates to around 163 cases daily, which points to how Gujarat is so full of cardiovascular conditions. Its sudden increase over the past years has become troublesome among health experts and the authorities, as they raise concerns that lifestyle-related disorders have now become a big burden upon the population.

The highest cases have been reported in urban cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara, where dense populations and lifestyles are combined with stressful working environments and poor lifestyle choices, which are attributed to the escalation. Physicians note that excessive urbanization, growing dependence on fast food, lack of exercise and long workplace hours have served as a pool ball and cardiovascular disease. Certainly, the increase is not only among older adults. Health gurus observe that more and more individuals in their thirties and forties are being diagnosed with heart diseases and conditions, a move that signifies a change of focus in terms of which age group is characterized by heart-related disorders.

Other long-term illnesses like diabetes, obesity and hypertension have been attributed to the increasing number of heart disease burdens by medical professionals. Without any significant preventive efforts, they say, the situation may progress even worse. On the medical side of things, hospitals in Gujarat have already recorded a greater influx of patients, with emergency rooms receiving record numbers of patients.

The statistics have triggered the demand for a quick series of public health campaigns aimed at prevention and awareness. Medical professionals underscore the need to conduct regular medical tests and examinations, early detection, healthy food, physical activity, and stress management to eliminate the risk of heart disease. They also emphasize that individuals must not smoke and consume a lot of alcohol since they are major causes of heart illnesses.

The proliferation of heart emergencies has become an eye-opener for the state. Experts believe that to deal with life-threatening heart conditions, Gujarat needs to focus on both preventive care as well as building emergency response. At present, there are more than ten people per hour with life-threatening heart conditions. Unless something is done quickly, the upward curve of heart disease will become one of the most critical problems of health in the state in the coming years.
