Prime Minister Narendra Modi waves to the crowd during a public event in Purnia, Bihar, with security personnel and officials around him, as traffic diversions are announced ahead of his visit from September 13–15.

The district administration has also released a route chart of the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Purnia before his visit and has given a traffic alert to commuters. The advisory, to be effective between 13 and 15 September, lists the traffic restrictions, diversions and alternative routes to facilitate smooth flow and security of the movement in the region during the stay of the Prime Minister in the region. Since the visit is likely to attract massive numbers and require the highest security measures, the government has advised citizens to cooperate and coordinate their movements.

According to the advisory, several key roads within and around Purnia will either be shut down or have restricted movement during the movement of the Prime Minister. Certain areas will only receive vehicles with authorized passes, and the heavy vehicles will also have restrictions during this period. There are also police checkpoints at strategic intersections to check the traffic flow in order to ensure there is law and order. They have been encouraging commuters not to engage in unnecessary travelling through the sensitive routes and instead use the other available roads identified by the traffic department.

The administration has pointed out that the route changes are only temporary and that these route changes are necessary to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister as well as the convenience of the common people. To reduce congestion, alternative routes have been well identified, and traffic attendants would be deployed to help motorists and commuters navigate the diversions. The advisory also guides its way to emergency vehicles so that ambulances and other necessary services are not hampered when the implementation of changes in the traffic is being implemented.

The residents of the area have been encouraged to be patient and cooperate during the three-day advisory period. The government has also urged its citizens to travel by the use of public transport whenever they have the opportunity, and so that they can give themselves more time to travel as a way of not frustrating themselves. The administration is also trying to create awareness of the advisory by making announcements in the town, on the local media, and on social media so that individuals are fully informed before going out.

The visit of Prime Minister Modi to Purnia is both political and administrative in its meaning, and the fact that the security and traffic arrangements were elaborate speaks volumes about the importance of the event. Although the alterations will probably temporarily inconvenience the commuting people, authorities feel that the actions are necessary to keep the normalcy and provide a secure and unproblematic visit. With the route plan and plan of alternative routes available, the administration is assured that people will be absolutely cooperative and the program of the Prime Minister will be carried out without causing much inconvenience to the people of Purnia.
