Bihar Police officers and workers will get President Awards is a proud moment for the state on the occasion of Independence Day, in the presence of 15 officers and other agency members. Created in gallantry, meritorious and distinguished service awards, awards are given to honour the commitment, courage, and professionalism of law enforcement in the state.
In 2020, the President recommended seven police officers to receive the Police Medal of Gallantry. They are SP Babu Ram, SI Saket Saurav, Ramraj Singh and Tarbabu Yadav, Constable Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary, Surendra Paswan and Vikas Kumar. They are being appreciated because of their great valour in their line of duty, whether in the saving of life, thwarting of crime prevention or arrest of the dangerous criminal in a difficult condition.
Six other managers will be awarded the President’s Medal of Meritorious Service award in recognition of their exemplary service and good performance over the years. And the awardees under this category are IG Garima Malik, DSP Smita Suman, Rajesh Ranjan, Havildar Bimal Chhetri, Sarvesh Kumar, and ASI Ashish Ranjan Singh. Such officers have always been professional and efficient to the best.
The President will confer the President’s Medal of Distinguished Service on two senior officials: DIG Nilesh Kumar and SP Sanjay Kumar Singh. This award is given to officers with outstanding leadership, integrity, and dedication with a long, distinguished career in their organization. The two officers have been instrumental towards ensuring law and order within the organization and have led the respective teams with responsibility and accountability.
Official Independence Day celebrations will be organized to do the honours publicly, and the highest-ranking dignitaries in the state will present the medals in the name of the President of India. This announcement has brought joy to the entire Bihar Police force, as senior officials indicate that such calibre will not only go ahead and reward individual responsibility, but it will also encourage other persons in the service to do even better.
The awards demonstrate the contributions made by the Bihar Police individuals across the spectrum of valour in the field, as well as long-term commitment in regional positions. The variety in talent and commitment within the force is captured in the recognition of officers found at different strata of the force, including the constables and senior officers of the IPS.
