What is the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET)?

NEET is an entrance exam that the candidate must clear before getting admitted into the courses like Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).

Who conducts the test?

National Test Agency conducts the test, an independent, autonomous agency trusted with conducting numerous important national exams like NEET.

Eligibility for taking the test

  • Citizens of India, Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals are eligible to take part in the NEET 2022.
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as subjects from a recognized board.
  • The Candidates must be 17 years as of December 31, 2022, to take part in the exam.
  • The National Medical Commission decided to remove the upper age limit for the NEET Under Graduate 2022 exam candidates.
  • The minimum % required for candidates to participate in NEET 2022 is different for each category, with General needed to score 50% or more, Scheduled Cast(SC), Schedule Tribe(ST), and Other backward classes (OBC) to score 40% or above and Physically handicapped and Person with a disability to achieve 45%.

What documents are required to register for NEET 2022? 

  • The candidate should have a scanned copy of their passport size photo between 10kb and 200kb.
  • The candidate should have a scanned copy of their signature and keep the size between 4 kb and 30 kb.
  • The candidate must possess the Class X passing certificate.
  • The candidate should keep impressions of left and right hands, including both hands’ thumbs.
  • A Category certificate (If you possess one)
  • A Citizenship certificate (If the condition applies to you)
  • Also, a postcard size photo
  • PWD Certificate (If the condition applies to you)

Syllabus for NEET 2022

  • The NEET Question paper will comprise four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology.
  • The exam will be divided into two sections.
  • Section A will have 35 Questions, while Section B will have 15 Questions, out of which a candidate must attempt any 10.

Know your Code (KYC)

This year while filing the application form for NEET, the candidates should select the NEET 2022 qualification code to qualify for the exam. Here are the codes are given:

Code 01- Candidates appearing for their Class 12 board in 2022 and awaiting their results from their respective boards should choose this code.

Code 02- Candidates studying for a higher or senior secondary examination or Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), the same as the Class 12 examination and comes after 12 years of study, have to choose this code.

Code 03- Individuals who have completed their intermediate/pre-degree examins in Science from a recognized board or University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as a compulsory subject have to choose this code.

Code 04- Individuals who have completed a pre-professional/pre-medical examination after passing either the higher secondary test or the Pre-University or equivalent examination with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English must choose this code. The pre-professional/ pre-medical examination should include practical tests in these subjects.

Code 05- Any individual who has passed the first year of their bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, including practice tests. The candidate should also verify that the first-year exam qualified is a university-level exam and they have qualified in Class 12 with the same subjects.

Code 06

Candidates who have passed B.Sc examinations with not less than two subjects, including Biology/Biotechnology, Physics, and Chemistry, need to choose Code 6 as their eligibility code.

Code 07 

Aspirants who have qualified for any other examination, in the last two years of 10+2 study comprises of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, including practical test in these subjects (found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board), will be determined by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
