Unusually warm weather in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Parts of Uttar Pradesh, including state capital Lucknow, are witnessing unusually warm weather with the day and night temperatures 4-5 degrees above average, the state Met office said today.

The Met officials attribute the abnormal weather conditions in the state for last four days, to "heating effect caused by a circulation due to low pressure over Rajasthan".

"The low pressure area over western Rajasthan is primarily responsible for abnormal weather conditions and heating the atmosphere. It (low pressure) is blocking cold winds coming from snow-clad regions," state Met Director J.P. Gupta told reporters today afternoon.

The maximum temperature across the state is consistently being recorded at 3-5 degrees above average, while the minimum is 2-5 degrees above average.

Even as a fresh western disturbance is approaching western Himalayas, the Met officials are not sure whether the disturbance would head towards Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow recorded a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius Tuesday, which was two degrees above average and a low of 14.7 degrees Celsius that was four degrees above average. (IANS)
