| Chennai, July 15: The worker's strike at Nokia India's mobile phone plant near here has been called off after an amicable settlement on Wednesday night, the company said.
According to a statement issued by Nokia India on Wednesday, the strike was called off after a meeting between Tamil Nadu Labour Minister T.M. Anbarasan, representatives of Nokia India Employees Progressive Union (NIEPU) and Nokia India's management that resolved the long term wage settlement issue.
Nokia India's workers struck work on Tuesday demanding reinstatement of 63 suspended workers and a revision in the wage settlement.
According to the company, the long term wage settlement discussed with NIEPU Monday has been agreed upon and the formal agreement will be signed at the plant today.
As a gesture of goodwill, the company management has offered to revoke the suspension of all the employees pending completion of remaining legal process of disciplinary proceedings. (IANS) |
