Churu (Rajasthan): Seven cows were found dead in Ratnagarh allegedly after consuming contaminated food, which was earlier meant for Mid-day meal to be supplied to various schools. The cows were found dead yesterday morning near Panchmukhi Balajee Manadir in Ratangarh allegedly after consuming rotten food which was thrown on the roads on September 26. The food was thrown away by the workers of the Excellence Team, the firm that has been awarded a contract recently to supply Mid-day meal to the 239 schools of the Ratangarh sub-division.

The authorities of Bhagwani Devi Bhuwalka Girls Sr Sec School in the town did not accept the food on September 23 saying it was not fit for human consumption and a complaint was lodged with SDM, Ratangarh. Along with a food inspector, the officials visited the site who took the sample of the food to send it for examination.

Meanwhile, Churu district administration in a meeting held today decided to suspend the supply from the contractor till further notice. (PTI)
