| New Delhi, Aug 17: Concern regarding the Sikh militant groups in Punjab has once again come to be felt more deeply after the government declared that Sikh militant groups from abroad are trying to revive the sway of militancy in the state.
While informing the members of Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken clearly asserted that there have been reports of Sikh militant groups are putting their efforts bolster militant operation in the state.
In a written statement Maken stated that the concerned department is keeping a vigil on the activities of various groups reported to have engaged in stimulating terrorist activities in Punjab.
Maken went on to add that the state government has adopted an integrated method to foil such bids. Some of the steps taken include vigilance along the borders and upgradation of police and security forces with advanced weapons.
The state government has also strengthened the mechanisms for collecting intelligence inputs and sharing them. |
