Senior Income Tax official in Punjab goes missing |

| Ludhiana, Sept 8: Punjab's Ludhiana town was gripped in tension when a senior Income Tax official reportedly went missing since Tuesday evening.
According to the police reports, Additional Commissioner Income Tax Umesh Chander went missing. He was last seen in the campus of Punjab Agriculture University on Tuesday evening. He had gone for a walk in the evening.
Chander is a 1989 batch Indian Revenue Service officer.
After his posting in Ludhiana from Chandigarh, Chander has been residing in the guest house of the IT department. It was situated in IT Colony Rishi Nagar. However, his other family members were still staying in Chandigarh.
Chander had made last call from his mobile phone on Tuesday evening and after that his phone was switched off.
Police have launched a search operation today evening to find the IRS officer. Police Commissioner Ishwar Singh categorically mentioned that police have not come across any evidence to suggest it was a case of kidnapping. |
