Punjab to set up veterinary clinics in all districts |

| Chandigarh, June 8: In a bid to improve veterinary services in the state, Punjab will establish poly-clinics in all districts and upgrade the infrastructure of existing veterinary hospitals and dispensaries, an official said today.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal took this decision during a high level meeting with officials of animal husbandry, diary development and fisheries departments here today.
"We will set up veterinary poly-clinics in all districts of Punjab in the coming months. I have also directed the officers of these departments to regularly monitor and ensure the quality and the timely completion of all the development projects under various ongoing schemes," Badal said.
A spokesperson of the Punjab government said: "It was also decided in the meeting that the state would construct new buildings for 51 block level hospitals and upgrade 1,000 veterinary dispensaries at a cost of Rs.29.51 crore. Rs.21.11 crore will be spent to improve the dilapidated condition of the buildings of the existing 449 veterinary hospitals and dispensaries."
Overall a budget of Rs.80.11 crore was allotted for the various veterinary projects. (IANS) |
