Chandigarh, Aug 28: The Punjab government will now do a performance rating of deputy commissioners (DCs) of all 20 districts in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has said.

"He (Badal) asked the chief secretary to evolve a proforma to monitor the performance and effectiveness of deputy commissioners on the pattern of senior superintendents of police (SSPs) and rate their performance every quarter," a state government spokesman said today.

The rating of the district administration chiefs will be done on the basis of their overall performance in various fields, including implementation of government schemes and policies, ensuring proper procurement of wheat and paddy crops and other development measures initiated by them in their districts, he said.

The state government initiated a move in June 2007 to evaluate the performance of all district police chiefs (SSPs) every month by the Punjab's director general of police (DGP). (IANS)
