Lt-governor asks Delhi Police to be people friendly

| New Delhi In view of the terror threat that Delhi constantly faces, Lt-Governor Tejendra Khanna today advised Delhi Police to keep friendly relations with the people so that they share information about suspicious activities.
Khanna underlined that Delhi, being the capital of the country, faces a constant threat and remains on the terror radar.
"Delhi Police have to remain alert all the time to thwart any attempt to disrupt peace," he said while speaking at the Delhi Police's 63rd Raising Day parade here.
Stressing the importance of people's cooperation, Khanna called for "friendly relations between police and public where a citizen can approach the police unhesitatingly and share information" about suspicious activities.
Khanna presented 43 medals, including the President's Police Medal for Gallantry, Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to the personnel of Delhi Police.
Maya Sharma, wife of Special Cell's Inspector M.C. Sharma, who was killed during a gunbattle with terrorists in Jamia Nagar in September 2008, received Police Medal for Gallantry on behalf of her late husband. The trophy for the best police station was given to the Lajpat Nagar police station. (IANS) |
