| Kolkata, July 26: Former Indian women's football team skipper Maria Rebello on Sunday created history by becoming the first Indian eve to don the referee's mantle at the senior level.
Rebello officiated in the Santosh Trophy cluster V match between Delhi and Madhya Pradesh at the Howrah Stadium here.
A short while after the game ended, Rebello took an examination supervised by an Asian Football Confederation representative from Singapore for getting into the AFC's Elite Panel of referees.
Once she clears the test, it will be another first for Rebello - she will become the first Indian women referee in the elite panel. (IANS) |
