Ponting wants decision review system in Tests |

| Melbourne, July 20: Australian captain Ricky Ponting today said the International Cricket Council (ICC) should ensure the decision review system is used in every Test series.
The referral system is not used in Australia's current two-match series against Pakistan in England as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was not prepared to meet the additional costs involved.
Ponting feels there should be some consistency in the execution of the review system.
"Look I got my point across at the referees' meeting before this series ... I just think probably even the ICC could have stepped in on this occasion," Ponting was quoted as saying in the media.
"It is a financial thing at the end of the day, that is the reason we are not using it.
"So I thought the ICC could have come in and done something about it but it has not eventuated and that is just the way it is. So we just have to get on with it.
The ICC's main stumbling block has been boards negotiating what they consider to be their fair share of costs involved in the use of the technology.
"It was brought in as compulsory in Test cricket 12 months ago now, so I thought if it was ever left up in the air someone should have stepped in and made sure it actually happened," Ponting said.
India are also opposed to the video review system and are likely to rule out its use in the October Test series against Australia. (IANS) |
