Indian cricket team leaves for Sri Lanka on Friday

Chennai, July 8: World’s number one test team leaves on its first overseas assignment against the fourth ranked Sri Lankans for a three test series. The Indian team would leave without Mahendra Singh Dhoni who got married recently. The series starts from July 18. The Indians are slated to play a tri series that also features the Kiwis after the tests get over.

Fast bowlers Abhimanyu Mithun and S Sreesanth have already arrived at Chennai. Mithun has replaced the Indian pace spearhead Zaheer Khan. Sachin Tendulkar is expected to reach the city by evening.

As per authorities at the airport the Indian ace had missed his flight at morning and is supposed to arrive at 19:15 hours. The cricketers would be coming in groups. The players from north India, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh are supposed to land at Chennai at half past ten at night. The cricketers are scheduled to leave in a Sri Lankan Airlines flight on Friday. The newly married Dhoni would be going to Sri Lanka directly.
