| Amsterdam: India's Krishnan Sasikiran drew his final round game with former local legend Jan Timman in the prestigious Inventi Chess 2009 Grandmaster tournament to finish tied second in the final standings.
The 28-year-old Indian had three wins, five draws and one loss in the 10-man tournament which concluded on Friday. The winner was 31-year-old Emil Sutovsky.
Former World junior chess champion Emil Sutovsky, who came in as a last-minute replacement into the field emerged a comfortable winner with seven out of a maximum possible nine points with five wins and four draws.
Azerbaijan-born Sutovsky, who now plays for Israel, is also a former European Champion. The 2676-rated player was 1.5 points clear of Sasikiran and Etienne Bacrot of France, who were tied for second at 5.5 points.
Third seeded Sasikiran's three wins came against Gabriel Sargissian (2678), Anna Muzychuk (2533) and Antoaneta Stefanova (2527) and his only loss was against Bartosz Socko (2637).(IANS) |
