| Chennai, June 15: Defending champion Ashwin Jayaram of India, employing the Sicilian defence, defeated compatriot Pratik Patil to take full points in the first round of the Asian Junior chess championship, here today.
Meanwhile, world Under-10 silver medalist Murali Karthikeyan caused a buzz when he drew with IM norm holder Swayams Mishra.
In the girls section, top seed WIM Padmini Rout beat Homa Alavi while Candidate Master Bhakti Kulkarni overcame Aparajita Gochchikar. (IANS) |
