Marathon runner dies of exhaustion in Tamil Nadu |

| Chennai: An athlete who fainted halfway through his marathon on Sunday was declared dead on arrival at a government hospital, official sources said. Santosh, 21, a post graduate science student from Krishnagiri, died of exhaustion, police sources said. Another 24-year-old runner, Rawath, of Vishakhapatnam, was rushed to hospital after fainting due to dehydration and was discharged later, police sources added.
The race was organised by an organisation connected with a charitable institution headed by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi. (IANS) |
