New Delhi, June 14: The monsoon today advanced further into the country and its eastern and western parts are expected to receive rainfall in two to three days, the weatherman said.

Conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into the remaining parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

He said the monsoon flow over Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify during next two to three days.

The western disturbance will affect the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains in the next couple of days, bringing rains to the northern parts of the country.

A normal monsoon is expected this year, the official said. (IANS)
