| Lucknow, May 14: In a suspected case of honour killing, a man in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad district killed his younger sister reportedly over her love affair with a youth, police said. He was arrested on Thursday.
Anshu Sahu allegedly killed his sister Rajni, 21, for insisting on marrying the youth she loved. Sahu on Thursday confessed his crime before mediapersons in Allahabad, some 200 km from Lucknow.
"I killed her to safeguard honour of our family...I banged her head several times against the wall," Sahu told reporters.
Rajni's body was found on Tuesday night hanging from a ceiling fan in her room.
Initially, the case was said to be a suicide, until injury marks were noticed on Rajni's head and body.
Later, acting on the autopsy report, police took Anshu into custody.
"We are probing into the case extensively. Strict action would be taken against all those found guilty," Superintendent of Police (City) Subhash Bhaghel told the media over phone from Allahabad. (IANS) |
