| Chennai, Jun 9: Tamil Nadu makes it to the Guinness Book of World Records and that too for a novel reason. The state bagged the record for having most people washing hands at a time.
Official reports reveal that 15,115 students in Chennai were seen together washing their hands in October last year. It was a part of the World Hand washing day. Health Secretary V K Subburaj confirmed that the students' feat has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The event was jointly organized by World Health Organisation (WHO), Tamil Nadu health department and Hindustan Unilever Lifebuoy in order to spread awareness about personal hygiene and the importance of washing hands before having food and after coming out of the toilet. |
