| Kolkata: Bollywood actress Raima Sen will feature alongside a host of actors and singers in a peace concert on Thursday that portrays the scourge of global terrorism and the significance of peace, to observe the first anniversary of last November's Mumbai terror attack.
Christened 'A Shanti', the programme will reflect the thoughts on terror and peace of the greatest of philosophers, writers and leaders as also the teachings of spiritual scriptures like the Bible and the Quran, the organisers St. Xavier's School Old Boys' Association (ALSOC) said here on Tuesday.
"A Shanti is a unique concert which will portray the historical significance of peace as cited by Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and Leo Tolstoy," said Sounak Chattopadhyay, a noted classical singer and ALSOC member.
Raima will participate in a song and dance drama, along with veteran film and theatre personality Dhritiman Chatterji and local actors.
"The concert brings people together and makes people happy. Joy is the antithesis of hate," said Chatterji.
At least 166 people were killed when 10 terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) went on a killing spree at many places in Mumbai for three days from Nov 26 last year. (IANS) |
