Pune: They have been doing their bit to bridge the differences and make the society a better place to live in. Jnana Prabodhini, a registered NGO under Bombay Public Charitable Trust Act, has now come up with a new initiative. With a steady focus on education, research and health and development, the NGO has decided to conduct Self Help Group Training in June 2010. Besides that, Jnana Prabodhini will also involve its members in operating Personality Development Camp in the same month.

Jnana Prabodhini decided to arrange a training of trainers after it was invited to come to Riyasi and impart training on execution and implementation of these ideas in the region. Riyasi is located at a distance of 64 km from Jammu.

The motive behind self help group training is not only to combat impoverishment but also to instill confidence among the people and develop a community that believes in sharing righteous thoughts among its members.

Mrs. Suvarna Gokhale and Mrs. Bageshri Ponkshe, who have gathered enough experience in this domain to, will be in-charge of guiding the local leaders. Sarang Gosavi will be coordinating the training program, which will take place from 9th to11th June.

It is to be noted in this reference that residents of Riyasi have been demanding for restoration of the District status. It was proposed in the Wazir Commission to upgrade the Sub-Division to District level and it was due to the diligent efforts of the people that the region got upgraded to District level in the year 2007. Even during the 90s, the leaders failed to restore the district status despite their persistent demonstration.

The Personality Development Camp slated to be held between 15th and 17th June at the Shopian town will give due emphasis on team building, presentation skills and leadership qualities. Mr. Amol Gangaji will guide the camp and he will be aided by the youth wing of Jnana Prabodhini.

This is not the first time that Jnana Prabodhini is taking such an initiative as the NGO has been involved in conducting such programs in Jammu and Kashmir in the past and that too with visible success.
