New Delhi: The Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not make a direct comment on the Delhi High Court judgment today on the office of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) coming within the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, but said there should be transparency in "different pillars of democracy".

Asked about the party's response to the high court verdict, Congress spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said it was a matter between the judiciary and RTI. "It is a matter between judiciary and RTI. We don't want to comment on it," Ahmed told media.

However, he said there should be transparency and probity in different wings of the administration.

BJP spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said there was no need for a political reaction on the verdict. He added there should be "accountability and transparency in different pillars of democracy."

Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Brinda Karat "welcomed" the judgment but said the party would give a detailed reaction after reading the verdict. (IANS)
