| New Delhi: The Central Information Commission has decided that information regarding the identities of passengers of flights can not be disclosed as per the Right to Information Act. The main reason behind this, as they stated, was that it was not serving any public purpose. It made these statements while negating the requests of an erstwhile Navy official who has been charged with murdering a lady a couple of years ago.
The accused Manish Thakur is presently lodged at the Arthur Road Prison in Mumbai. He was supposed to have shot his 24 year old girlfriend named Kaushambi Layek. Kaushambi had been working at the Tata Consultancy Services. Her dead body was discovered on 14th May 2007 at the honeymoon suite of a hotel where the couple had put up. Police has said that Thakur fled Goa after murdering the lady.
He was taken in judicial custody at the INS Hansa in Goa where he was participating in an advanced training programme. He was taken to a Mumbai court on 18th May. |
