Panaji, Feb 9: Noted activist Medha Patkar today called for a 'one family one elected representative' cap in Indian politics, saying the trend of dynastic rules was dangerous for the country.

Patkar, who was in Goa as part of her National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) itinerary, also said that the recent allotment of 11 out of 33 Goa assembly tickets to Congressmen and their kin was a "bad trend" which was beginning to take root in the state.

"As you can see, dynastic rule is increasing in India. There must be a cap of 'one family one elected representative'. This is the only way we can control this dangerous trend," Patkar said.

The veteran award-winning social worker also said that the issue of two elected representatives - one male and female - per constituency was also being pursued by the NAPM so that the fairer sex gets democratic representation in the true sense. (IANS)
