Ansari to inaugurate M.C. Varghese Memorial Lecture series |

| New Delhi: Vice President Hamid Ansari will on Thursday inaugurate the M.C. Varghese Memorial Lecture series, being organised in the memory of the founder editor of Kerala's Mangalam group of publications.
Varghese started his career as a newspaper boy in Kottayam and later emerged as a media tycoon, heading a chain of publications including the Mangalam daily and Mangalam weekly. Varghese, who died in 2006, is considered a legend in the Malayalam publishing industry.
The inaugural function at the Constitution Club will be presided over by Supreme Court Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan. The theme of the event is 'Indian Media in the New Century'.
Former central minister and Mathrubhoomi chairman cum managing director M.P. Veerendrakumar will also speak at the function, a Mangalam publication official said here today.
The lecture series will be an annual event starting this year.(IANS) |
