Hyderabad: A woman in Andhra Pradesh today approached the State Human Rights Commission complaining that a legislator of the ruling Congress party was harassing her husband.

According to the complaint lodged by A. Dhanalakshmi, Congress party legislator from Chirala assembly constituency in Prakasam district A. Krishnamohan is threatening to get a criminal case booked against her husband.

Dhanalakshmi, an assistant professor in a private engineering college, told the commission that the legislator was threatening to get a case booked against her husband under Scheduled Castes and Schedule Tribes (prevention of atrocities) Act.

The woman alleged that the legislator's brother was trying to encroach on their house and threatening her husband with criminal cases for resisting the attempts.

The commission directed Prakasam district police to conduct an inquiry and submit a report by Wednesday. (IANS)
