New Delhi: The Delhi High Court's verdict decriminalising homosexual sex, which has invited sharp reactions, has been challenged in the Supreme Court. The lawsuit was filed by advocate Suresh Kumar Kaushal, who urged the apex court to review the high court's July 2 ruling, which struck down penal provisions from sex between two consenting adults of the same gender following an NGO's petition.

Advocate Kaushal may apprise the Supreme Court on Thursday of his lawsuit filed on the matter and urge it hear the same at the earliest.

In his petition filed before the apex court registry today, he contended that homosexuality is unnatural, leads to perversion in society and ought not be permitted at any cost.

"No one can imagine the consequences of the unnatural acts. Even animals don't indulge in such activities," he said in his petition.

Kaushal said decriminalising homosexual acts would result in further spread of the HIV virus as "it has been amply proved that the HIV virus is a result of unnatural sex". (IANS)
