Lucknow, May 10: Samajwadi Party (SP) state president Akhilesh Yadav here today categorically ruled out any plans to join the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

"There’s just no question of joining the Congress-led central government. Our stand is very clear...it will continue to remain anti-Congress and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)," Yadav told reporters here.

"Media reports indicating a tacit understanding between the Congress and our party are totally baseless. We will continue to fight against the central government on the streets over its anti-people policies," he added.

Accusing the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government of falsely implicating the SP activists, Yadav said: "I have submitted a memorandum to the governor, seeking his intervention into the issue."

"Several of our partymen were unnecessarily targeted by the police at the behest of the state government, while they carried peaceful demonstration during the general strike observed on April 27 over the price rise issue," alleged Yadav. (IANS)
