| Kolkata: Railways Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said her party would jointly fight with the Congress against the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in West Bengal.
"We welcome union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's call to unitedly fight against the CPI-M in the state. The Trinamool Congress and Congress will take on the communists and defeat them in the state.
"We've to raise our voice against the CPI-M atrocities, their conspiracy and the state-sponsored violence which is going on across the state," Banerjee told reporters here at her south Kolkata residence.
Talking about the Maoist problem, she said: "We want the central government to intervene into the matter and seize the firearms from the troubled region.
"There will soon be a discussion on the internal security issue in Lok Sabha. Our party will come out its stand there and we'll disclose whatever we think about the matter." (IANS) |
