| Mumbai: Shiv Sena launched a fresh tirade against the general secretary of Congress, Rahul Gandhi by bringing in the issue of his Italian parentage. In his editorial Saamna, the Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray posed questions related to the Italian origin of Congress president Sonia Gandhi who is Rahul's mother as well.
In his editorial Thackeray suggested that Rahul Gandhi had made his statements pertaining to Maharashtra in sheer frustration. He also said that Mumbai was not a charitable guesthouse where people could come and fool around.
He also referred to the 105 people who had laid down their lives when the Sanyukta Maharashtra Movement was on in the 1920s. He suggested that they had not sacrificed their lives for a futile cause.
Thackeray also asked how Rahul could have insulted the sacrifices of policemen such as Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte, Vijay Salaskar and Tukaram Omble when he said that commandos from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh had played a major role in subjugating the terrorists who razed Mumbai during the 26/11 attacks.
In the article he also stressed that Mumbai was indeed for Marathis and Maharashtra. |
