Mumbai: Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray seems to continue with his 'Maharashtra for Marathi manoos' stance as the veteran leader came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi today for calling Mumbai as Bombay during his recent trip to the city.

Accusing Rahul Gandhi of trying to break Mumbai away from Maharashtra by repeatedly calling Mumbai as Bombay, Thackeray asserted in his editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamna' that Rahul Gandhi's visit to Mumbai was like the "funeral procession of Congress" taken out by Marathi people.

Thackeray further ridiculed Ramesh Bagwe, minister of state for home for carrying Rahul Gandhi's shoes for safe-keeping, during the former's visit to Mumbai. Thackeray added that the minister should be ashamed of himself for carrying Rhaul Gandhi's shoes since he is not a Mahatma Gandhi that Ramesh should keep his shoes close to the heart.
