Mumbai: Prominent Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's remarks that North Indian men from National Security Guard had played an important part in repelling the terrorists during the tumultuous events of 26/11. Uddhav said these remarks were insulting to the martyrs who had laid down their lives at that time for the safety of the city.

The administrative president of Shiv Sena, Uddhav said that Rahul was insulting people like Hemant Karkare, Tukaram Omble, Ashok Kamte, Sandeep Unnikrishnan and Vijay Salaskar who had sacrificed their lives to capture the terrorists.

He questioned the role played by Rahul Gandhi in the context of the Mumbai attacks. On Monday Rahul Gandhi had criticised the Maharashtra Nava Nirman Sena for their actions against people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. He also asked why the MNS and Sena had not thrown out the Biharis and people from other parts of India when the terrorists were razing the city during the three days of November 2008. (IANS)
