| New Delhi: Filmmaker Hansal Mehta lambasted on the narrow mindedness of Shiv Sena Chief Raj Thackeray and pointed out his common syndrome to get publicity by bringing someone down. The incident of Karan Johar has infuriated this Bollywood director, who himself was once the victim of Thackeray's vandalism and illogical moral policing.
Narrating how he was humiliated by Raj Thackeray and his party members, Mehta wrote in his blog, "I was subjected to humiliation by moral police from some wing of the Shiv Sena, headed by 'youth leader' Raj Thackeray. His touts (a few thousand) vandalized my office. They thrashed me. They colored my face black."
Referring to the latest Karan Johar incident, Mehta confessed how it reminded him of the insults hurled towards him by the Shiv Sena group to make the Congress government feel their 'Marathi' presence .
Mehta expressed his annoyance over this repeated cases of attacking celebrities by blowing things out of proportion. His poignant words were, "A few months ago Shiney Ahuja was arrested for allegedly raping his maid. Yesterday Karan Johar apologized for being raped. His rapists have emerged triumphant. In our law books there is punishment for physical rape. There is no law for raping our freedom of expression. There is only triumph for the rapists. Bravo, Raj Thackeray. You are a master rapist."
Harping on the fact that MNS and Shiv Sena are always in search of an opportunity for titillation, Mehta asserted that the present condition is even more dangerous. In his words, "The jihadis have Osama. Gujarat has Modi. Maharashtra has the Thackerays." |
